Michigan Stateâs Mel Tucker subject of sexual harassment investigation, per report
ESPN is reporting Michigan State’s Mel Tucker is the subject of a university sexual harassment investigation. The report, citing multiple sources with knowledge of the case, did not reveal the complainant’s identity or details about the allegations.
According to the report, ESPN, which reports the investigation started months ago and remains open, filed a public records request with Michigan State on July 30, asking for any documents related to the case.
The school’s interim president said allowing the request “would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of an individual’s privacy.”
ESPN stated in the report that the denial is a violation of state open records law and has engaged a Michigan-based law firm to pursue potential litigation.
Tucker, who spent 2015 as an assistant at Alabama, is in his fourth season at Michigan State.
The Spartans are 2-0 on the season after Nathan Carter ran for 111 yards and three touchdowns to lead Michigan State to a 45-14 victory over Richmond. Noah Kim had threw three scoring passes, while Carter had scoring runs of 2, 44 and 6 yards in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Spartans.
Kim started the game hitting only three of his first seven pass attempts and then completed 15 straight to finish 18 of 22 for 292 yards. Richmond’s two second-half touchdowns came on a 47-yard fumble return by Aaron Banks and Jackson Hardy’s 5-yard pass to Sean Clarke.
